Description
Children need food, drink, shelter and clothing - but more importantly they need to feel loved and supported. You must try to show your love through hugs, holding hands (NOT as a restraint!), sitting with the children on your lap, putting your arm around their shoulders.
When you are on a bus or the MRT, in a waiting room, at home, always try to respond to the children.
POSITIVE physical contact at this early stage boosts self-confidence and core self-esteem. NEGATIVE physical contact (slapping, caning, jerking arms, pulling hair or ears) is HARMFUL to your children's emotional well-being.
