Description
This Study Text is designed to give clear and comprehensive coverage of the ACCA syllabus for the Level 2 Management Information Systems examination.
To put the subject into its ACCA context, the text begins with an introductory section in which the syllabus and paper format are set out; there are also comments from the ACCA study guide which accompanies the syllabus. The section ends with an analysis of topics examined in recent 2.7 sittings, a guide to flowcharting symbols and a study checklist.
The text is structured in the same way as the examination syllabus and study guide. The chapters are grouped into four parts.
โข The nature and role of information systems. This deals with systems and subsystems in the organisation, both in theory and in practice, with particular reference to management information systems.
โข Information systems development. The management of information systems in development and operation is covered here. This broadly based topic includes the organisational structure, strategies for information systems and the systems development life cycle. Strategic decision areas in systems development are discussed.
โข Control, privacy and security issues. Control and security issues are discussed with reference to administrative and operational controls. Computer audit techniques are covered, as is relevant legislation.
โข Systems analysis and design. This part examines systems design in greater detail, and describes the principal techniques of investigation, analysis and design in current use.
Each chapter in the text ends with a 'test your knowledge' quiz. In a bank at the end of the text numerous illustrative examination-style questions are provided, all with full suggested solutions prepared by BPP. Students are referred to relevant questions to attempt at the end of each chapter. The text ends with a useful glossary of data processing terminology and an index of topics covered.
This edition of the text has been updated to reflect developments in the examinations and in the subject itself. ISBN:9780862776374
