Description
This is an up-to-date, highly readable and lucid introduction to the Malaysian legal system, designed for students preparing for professional and sub-professional examinations, and for the interested general reader.
Many students embark on a study of substantive law without an adequate knowledge of the legal system within which it operates. This book attempts to rectify this situation by pro- viding the relevant background materials which are often scattered in inaccessible journals, law reports, and unpublished works.
Commencing with chapters on Malaysian legal history and the sources of Malaysian law, the author considers in turn legislation and subsidiary legislation, the Federal and State Constitutions, the court system, civil procedure, and criminal procedure.
The author also provides ample references to leading cases and cites important source materials for the student who wishes to delve deeper into the subject.
The author, Wu Min Aun, holds an Honours degree in History from the University of Malaya and a Masters degree in Law from London University, and has many years experience as a teacher and law lecturer. He is presently Lecturer in Law and Head of the Diploma in Public Administration programme at the Mara Institute of Technology.
