This book is a souvenir to mark two decades of active and meaningful co-operation. ASEAN has come a long way since the day the Bangkok Declaration was signed on 8 August 1967. The Association was formed to bring together a group of states, not always without differences. The member countries were determined to work together as a group, to strive forward through difficult times, and to resolve their differences peacefully and amicably.
Today, twenty years later, ASEAN still thrives, and has become a shining and proud example of regional co-operation.
