Fourth in the series of ASII's annual conferences and part of KLSE's program of internationalization and training. "Asian Capital Markets: Growth Frontiers" provided an informative forum for professional networking and high level discussion of current international trends and issues, Asian investment growth areas and challenges Asian markets will face.

The attendant sophistication, depth and breadth of the capital markets in the region are poised to bring great challenges to investors in this region."
The Keynote and Special Addresses in the conference, which highlight major aspects of the sources of growth and vitality in the region, prospects and challenges for further growth and the role of financial markets, are grouped together as the first part of this volume.
The book then organizes the papers according to the major topics covered in the conference from impact of global issues on Asian markets to project financing in Asia, financial growth frontiers in the region, and future challenges for Asian capital markets.
All the papers presented in the conference are contained in this volume. Additionally, we have also included two interesting and related papers on China: one by Wang Tong and the other by Yuzo Kumasaka.
The partnership between KLSE and ASII in co-organizing this conference has been cheerfully productive and rewarding. Our cooperative efforts have combined in successfully bringing a notable international gathering of professionals and practitioners from all sectors of the securities industry.
