Alan Redpath was brought up in Newcastle-on-Tyne, educated at Durham School, and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1929. For the following six years he was on the staff of I.C.I. in London, as a personal assistant to the Treasurer. During that time he played Rugby football for Northumberland County.
At the call of God, in 1936 he left business and was for four years on the staff of the National Young Life Campaign as an evangelist, until in 1940 he received a call to the pastorate of Duke Street Baptist Church, Richmond, Surrey, where he served until 1953. During this period he conducted several city-wide evangelistic campaigns in all parts of the British Isles.
In 1953 he accepted a call to the pastorate of Moody Memorial Church, Chicago, where he was until 1962, when he returned to Britain to assume the responsibility of the ministry at Charlotte Baptist Chapel, Edinburgh.
Following a severe illness in 1964, he resigned two years later from the Chapel, of which he is now Pastor-Emeritus, and is at present engaged in a world-wide missionary and conference ministry.
He has served on the Council of a number of undenominational missionary societies, and is President of the Unevangelised Fields Mission, and also honorary field representative of the Capernwray Missionary Fellowship.
