Description
BUILDING CHRISTIAN COMMUNITIES is, first and foremost, a positive and constructive book. It does not demolish the Church with criticism, but it sees the Church suffering in the midst of change because of the lack of an overall plan of renewal.
The author proposes such a plan-a comprehensive strategy for recentering Christ in the Church, and building up his body in the world by means of Christian communities, The formation of these communities is the central theme of this book.
The Church's main pastoral objective, suggests the author, should be the building of Christ-centered communities by an "environmental" approach which permits the development of a fully Christian life in all its members, and fosters the growth of a naturally emergent leadership from within.
Special emphasis is placed on the intelligent use and respiritualization of social movements already existing within the Church organizational structure.
