Description
At just 5ft 3in, the problems of being a petite woman are very close to my heart. Working in the fashion industry, where I am often surrounded by 6ft models at fashion shows and photographic shoots, sometimes makes me feel like Gulliver in Brobdingnag, the land of the giants. Many times I've asked to be perched on a high stool to give my fashion commentary, rather than stand next to the never-ending stream of long-legged beauties filing past me on stage.
Thankfully, we petite women are not surrounded by 'supermodels' the entire time. In fact, only 7 per cent of the UK female population is over 5ft 7in, while over 50 per cent is petite, i.e. 5ft 4in and under. So, although we may not feel it, because of our lack of inches, we petite women are the 'norm' in our society. Rather than feeling inadequate and vertically challenged, we should turn the tables and feel sorry for the beanpole models who are really genetic accidents! Women are not meant to have necks like giraffes, rib cages like greyhounds, or legs like racehorses. ISBN:9780749918323
