Conversational Mandarin (Book 1 and 2)

This is a set of 2 books, book 1 and book 2.

This book is specifically designed for the officers in the public service without a Chinese language background. The topics included are common ones pertaining to daily life. Every effort has been made to make them colloquial, interesting and easy to learn. English translations accompany all the words and expressions which are also given in Hanyu Pinyin. To facilitate the learning of Mandarin vocabulary, all compound words are written as single words. But for easy pronunciation, all bi-syllable and multi-syllable compound words are separated by hyphens. At the end of each lesson are sections on Sentence Patterns and Questions and Answers. The former is to familiarise readers with the particular kinds of sentence structure used in the text and the latter provide variations in the different forms of questions and answers.
