This was fast becoming the America of the drive-in- drive-in restaurant, drive-in cinemas, drive-in car wash and domination by the automobile would soon become the established American way of life. The car you drove was a status symbol - the bigger and bolder the better. The influences on design came in the main from the fast developing airplane industry but just as important was the influence from a population, who after years of world conflict craved a society filled with excitement and color.
