Description

What is the Buddha's teaching?

The illustrated anthology of essential readings on Buddhism offers simple and inspiring answers to this question, primarily in the words of the Buddha and other masters. Entering the Stream includes:

- the story of the Buddha's life
- a concise historical survey of Buddhism
- simple explanations of Buddhist terms
- key writings by both ancient and contemporary masters
- the basic teachings of the three levels of Buddhism

Entering the Stream draws on traditional Indian, Chinese, Japanese and Tibetan sources as well as on the teachings of contemporary Buddhists. The official tie-in to Bertolucci's film Little Buddha, this volume is a treasure house of wisdom from one of the great religious traditions of the world.

Samuel Bercholz is the founder and editor-in-chief of Shambhala Publications. He has taught Buddhist meditation throughout North America and Europe and he served as a consultant to Little Buddha.

Sherab Chรถdzin Kohn worked closely with the Tibetan master Chogyam Trungpa from 1970 to 1984, as an editor and personal representative. He has been teaching Buddhism and meditation worldwide since 1973.
