Description
Finding Hobbes is a novel based upon events in Malaysia in 1988, involving struggle between the judiciary and the executive. However, while those events form the basis of the plot of the novel, the personalities portrayed are purely fictitious. In the novel the writer seeks to show how the good intentions of a Rousseau can collide with the brutal political realities observed by a Hobbes, and thereby endeavours to illustrate the problems inherent in the doctrine of separation of powers. The novel is therefore in the nature of a legal fable, intended to assist the reader - especially the young law student - in an understanding of that difficult doctrine.
