Description
This text has been prepared in response to a perceived need for a concise but comprehensive text that focuses on those business law and U.C.C. topics essential to the education of students in colleges and schools of business.
The text is suitable for a one or two-quarter or semester course in so-called "traditional" Business Law in two- and four-year schools, and in business education and continuing education programs. Much of the government regulation material has been omitted; therefore, the text is also quite appropriate for the course in commercial law following a course in the Legal Environment of Business.
In planning the text a primary objective was to avoid achieving brevity by simply stating rules and summarily defining terms. A text on the fundamentals of business law should, of course, live up to its title and thoroughly cover the fundamentals.
This text does just that by reducing coverage of traditional introductory material to two carefully conceived chapters. The instructor is therefore able to move rapidly into business topics after a brief but necessary treatment of the American legal system and major bodies of law. Coverage of introductory materials is nevertheless clear and concise and provides the requisite background for more detailed study of commercial topics.
