GET THAT JOB is designed to help the job-seeker understand the job-hunting process and certain aspects of executive work. It is intended particularly for job-seekers who are unable to communicate effectively in English.
The book emphasizes a practical approach to the problems faced by job-seekers and young executives in the area of general information about jobs and language skills.
Each chapter is divided into four sections.
Part 1 - General Guidelines provides basic information about the topic discussed in that chapter.
Part 2 Vocabulary explains the most important vocabulary items used in Part 1.
Part 3 - Grammatical Explanation discusses the structures used in the text and points out grammatical mistakes commonly made by second language learners.
Part 4 - Exercises consists of oral and written exercises.
GET THAT JOB can be used for self-study or in the classroom. While the book is geared mainly to the level of the pre-university and university student, 'O' level students can also benefit from the first half of the book which deals specifically with the job-hunting process. The situations covered in the course are not restricted to any one job but consist of a range of activities likely to be encountered in any job.
