Description
The book falls naturally into two parts. Chapters 1 to 10 deal with the basic design principles and parameters, concluding with a sur- vey of hovercraft economics. The approach to design is essentially practical; mathematical analysis, while not being shunned, is nowhere introduced for its own sake, and a knowledge of elementary calculus will see the reader safely through this part of the book. This practical approach continues through the re- maining chapters, which deal in detail with the various aspects of design and construction.
The work is definitive and is in no sense a mere record of a single organisation's practice. It will be in- valuable both to the practising engineer and to the student who need, or simply wish, to understand the fundamentals of this newest branch of their art.
