I Want to Live! is the story of a woman Communist guerilla fighter of her 12-year struggle for survival, of heart-break and tears as she saw a dream shattered. She joined the Communist cause as a young girl of 19 idealistic, eager and all prepared to take on the world. She left it on the verge of death, bitter and fired with hatred and vengeance. This is the first personal account of what goes on behind the bamboo curtain in the jungles of Malaysia.
It is told with compassion for her fellow suffering comrades against a background of intrigues and greed for sex, power and food.
