Description
Lifelong learning demands a comprehensive review of various educations and training systems in order to create a lifelong learning society. It also encompasses the notion of learning at all stages of life. Lifelong learning eliminates the boundaries between formal, non-formal and informal education. The lifelong learning agenda creates new threshold challenges for understanding key competencies.
The lifelong learning agenda has led to the identification of the characteristics of the lifelong learner which include being self-motivated, views change as opportunity and a positive challenge, responsible and accountable for own work and learning, able to act as leader and as change agent, has initiative and is enthusiastic, willing to challenge assumptions and established practices, adaptable, creative and flexible.
This book is a compilation of papers from academicians, practioners and lifelong learning champions from Asia and Europe with regards to Integrated Approaches to Lifelong Learning. They came together to present their views at the ASEM International Conference on Lifelong Learning held in Kuala Lumpur in May 2002.
A lifelong learner only needs to take the first step for the adventure of a journey of a thousand miles.
