Description
Peter Claque is an Englishman, or more properly a Manxman, who has spent almost the whole of his colourful career in South-East Asia. Starting at the age of twenty-one as a subaltern in the British Indian Army, by the end of the Second World War he was a major on the staff of Lord Louis Mountbatten's South-East Asia Command. It was in this capacity that he first arrived in Singapore and Malaysia in 1945In Singapore itself he served in the Judge Advocate-General's office, then as a Singapore magistrate. Finally for six years he held the newly-created post of Police Secretary. Whilst in this position, he became widely known for his weekly broadcasts over Radio Singapore of true crime stories taken from the files of the Singapore Police.
