Description

The story of J.C. Jacobsen, founder of Carlsberg, is a many facetted drama. It is the history of his impressive career as an industrialist who believed strongly in the application of science to his endeavours. J.C. Jacobsen was an admirer of Louis Pasteur, who visited the Carls berg laboratories in Copenhagen. Jacobsen was also a politician, affiliated to the National Liberal Movement and was one of the most outstanding philanthropists of his time.

Throughout his life, Jacobsen was a keen traveller who felt at home everywhere in Europe. At the age of 75 he died on one of his many travels, in Rome, on the 2nd of April 1887.

This biography portrays the people around him and his family life, which was characterized by his strength of will and a bitter conflict with his son Carl. It is a bio graphy which contains the stuff from which novels, films and tv series are made.
