Description
The main reason for publishing KLACK is that photography and images affect our daily lives and society, but most of us are unaware of its power. We encounter numerous images in advertisements, newspapers and magazines which give direct visual impact and information to audience. We need not to think about, but simply receive. However, it is slowly killing our ability to think and imagine. Thus through KLACK, we hope to provide more perspective in understanding an image, in hopes to prevent a duality of believing in images or not. KLACK takes a look at the nature of photography and its function under different themes. And we start thinking "photography as the medium for information" in this issue and most of the features are hidden with this mes- sage. The first issue aims to understand photographs rationally to see how a photo dissects messages and information, as well as how do an audience perceive and read a photo. Damian Cheng's "Unconscious Truth" would be a good introduction to this.- Ki Wong
