Description
As I sit at my desk writing Lovers of Flowers throughout the World, which is being published to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Im Wha Kong Flower Arrangement Society, I vividly recall the time when I began Oriental Flower Arrange- ment: Wha Ye. It was during the state of turmoil immediately after the Korean War. For Koreans, who were still smarting from their recent tragic experience, peace of mind, not to mention vases and flowers, was hard to come by.
How I feel the passage of time and the profound changes in our era when I think that we now have porcelain vases we ourselves have designed and flowers we have grown with our own hands, and the joy of arranging these flowers we are able to share with friends from all over the world. Despite our diverse nationalities and our inability to verbally converse, we have been able to respond to each other through our creative arrangements.
Wha Kong Hoe owes its existence today to the dedication of its members and the help of those who, understanding our love of flowers, have offered assistance at every opportunity. To all of them I am sincerely grateful. I pray that our friendship through our mutual appreciation for the beauty of flowers will be everlasting. Also, I wish to extend my heartfelt thanks to Shufunotomo for publishing this book.
