Description
Building a company is one of the most rewarding things one can experience in life. I have had the pleasure of working in the marketing arena for the last 15 years in four continents. It all started with my first business as a student to pay my way through university. I opened a stall on the hard- haggling flea market of Kettenbrueckengasse in Vienna. Subsequently I honed my marketing skills in many different arenas, the strangest of which was selling vegetable slicers to housewives in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait while the guns were booming across the Gulf in the Iran-Iraq war. Having graduated with a Master's degree in Timber Technology I followed my true calling: marketing.
I joined Lever Brothers in Vienna as the only Timber Technologist ever to have worked in their marketing division (I used the marketing techniques I learned in the streets to sell my way into the job) and became a fully-fledged Product Manager at Elida Faberge in six months, the fastest time on record.
The following years took me around the world, working in Europe, Arabia, Australia, the USA and Asia. In due course I left the corporate world of safe pay cheques and started building my own multi-million dollar companies.
All too often I see people with tremendous potential deciding to go into business for themselves and ending up with broken souls and wrecked lives. Yet what would somebody at the start of his or her career as an independent business person say if he or she was confronted with one simple truth? Being successful in business is nothing more than using a formula, instead of groping around in the dark as many hopeful entrepreneurs do.
