Description
The day-to-day arena of spoken and written communication has always been a terrifying place, filled with endless possibilities for embarrassing blunders by even the most cautious.
People may have a fine grasp of grammar, be proficient with spelling and still occasionally find themselves in a dilemma about which word to use. These days it seems that those of us who want to be precise are having a harder time than ever because there is so much which is working against us. For one thing, there is the constant bombardment of sloppy English that we are subjected to from what we hear on TV or radio and published in every conceivable kind of print media; especially, in blogs and other presentations on some internet sites. These are strong influences, and if we hear and see a word misused often enough, it takes on a certain 'correctness'.
Having been exposed to the misused vocabulary of daily communication, I have taken this effort to make a list of 'confusing words' (or rather, words that people get confused with) and compiled them into this book, Milon's Quick-Fix - Dictionary of Confusing Words & Vocabulary. to provide you, the reader, with a quick reference on the right word to use, when you are speaking or writing in English. With this book at hand, you can be more certain of the language you use when you write and speak, be it for academic, social or business purposes.
It is my sincere hope that this book will help reduce the perplexity of words amongst our learners. Have fun discovering!
