Description
The purpose of this book is to describe life and health insurance companies-how they are organized, how they operate, and the environment in which they operate. The first three chapters describe the place that life and health insurance maintains in the North American economy, the various types of organizations that provide insurance, and examples of the internal organization of insurance companies.Through the remainder of the book, each chapter or set of chapters describes a major function performed in a life and health insurance company. The emphasis throughout the text is on what the function is, who does it, and how they do it. No two companies are exactly the same, and there is no single or perfect organization for all insurance companies. Some companies combine into one department the functions that are described here as being the functions of two or more departments. Other companies might assign to several departments the functions that are described in this book as belonging to only one depart- ment. Nevertheless, the same basic functions are necessary for all companies to operate.ISBN:0915322781
