Description
This new text provides a theoretical framework to enable students to place organisational practice in a theoretical context. It thus constitutes a solid knowledge base in organisational theory, and in the application of that theory, for both undergraduate students and those on postgraduate and MBA programmes who are studying organisational theory or organisational behaviour.
Organisational Theory follows the development of theory in the social, cultural, political and ideological contexts in which organisations have developed in different societies. It evaluates the theories critically, using different theoretical approaches. It analyses the interpretation and application of these theories to organisations, and their reception and implementation by people in different types of organisation and at different levels. It also assesses the influence of such interpretation and application on future theories and their implementation.
The text focuses on the skills students require in order that they may place new theories in a sound theoretical framework, and be better able to evaluate them and implement them in the knowledge of the theories' strengths, weaknesses and implications for practice. It features a range of new topic areas, including:
- environmentalism
- knowledge management
