Description
Each chapter contains a discussion of the following in relation to the activity being considered: its importance and purpose, its important relationships with other PHRM activities and with the internal and external environments, and the relevant legal considerations. These characteristics are included because they reflect current thinking in personnel and human resource management and the reality of a dynamic, international, and highly competitive environment. Included for the same reason is the section on trends located near the end of each chapter. Within this section are three topics of special importance to the field of PHRM: (1) techniques for assessing the effectiveness of each activity, (2) human resource information system needs and computer technology applications, and (3) how each PHRM activity can be used more strategically in organizations.
