Sacred Sage was written to honor the Spirit of the sagebrush which was introduced to me during my first walkabout in August 1988. It took me to Taos, New Mexico and into the Sangre de Cristo (Blood of Christ) Mountains. There I found myself harvesting sage as if I knew what I was doing and why! That strange yet wonderful feeling of deja vu crept over me each and everytime I cut a sprig of sage.Since this walkabout was consciously chosen to be one of pure faith in the Universe, I just went with my feelings and prayers for Divine guidance. I respectfully asked the Spirit of the sage to share its knowledge of healing with me when the time was right.It has been four years now and the time feels right to share the observations and messages I have received with those who read this. This book is written in two parts. In the first part I share my experiences with the physical uses of the sagebrush and its healing abilities. In the second part, I share the spiritual messages I received during meditations with the sagebrush and through using it in my personal life. I do not pretend to speak for all Native Americans or other healers who use sage for ceremonial or medicinal purposes. Being a student of life, I have seen that healing is always self-induced, and that everyone experiences the tools used in healing according to their specific needs.May the messages in this book be heard in the ways they need to be heard.Aho Mitakuye Oyasin!
