Description
LAWRENCE SELIGMAN, a wealthy Australian rancher and race horse breeder, is a flawed character - at least in his own estimation. Guilt over the death of his friend Anthony Kenworthy drives him to England and into the arms of Anthony's sister Anthea, a Somerset farmer. With the passing of years not even his adored daughters, Vivien and Wanda, can prevent the marriage from crumbling. Beth, a nurse who becomes Lawrence's second wife, is as different from Anthea as two women can be - but before long Lawrence's nature jeopardises this marriage as well.
Only when Lawrence is killed in a shocking accident are his two wives obliged to meet, with predictably stormy results. But as, together, Anthea and Beth discover and accept the man that their husband really was, they come to terms with his loss and are forced to take stock of their own lives in order to move on.
