Description

The events related in Shadows on the Hudson are set in the immediate post- World War II period, at the start of the Cold War era. The story takes place between December 1947 and November 1949, principally in New York, before the state of Israel came into being. The book concludes with a short epilogue in the form of a letter written in 1949. Isaac Bashevis Singer published his original version in Yiddish in The Forward, where it appeared in serial form twice weekly between January 1957 and January 1958.
