Description
Krishna Shah wrote the screenplay of Shalimar, based on a story written jointly with Stanford Sharman. After that, he lived with it for several years, chopping and changing, pruning and adding, revising and polishing, before he made it into a film. My assignment was to write a novel based on his final screenplay.
Was it not HG Wells who wrote that there is no passion in life as intense as the desire to change someone else's draft? I claim to have resisted that urge. I have taken absolutely no liberties with the plot, done my best to incorporate the changes made while the film was being shot, and have left much of the dialogue of the screenplay as it was.
With 12 pages of photography still from the movie.
