Description
This totally revised and reworked edition of the authors' Mathematical, Statistical and Financial Tables for the Social Sciences contains the most widely used tables in economics, management, business studies, sociology, politics, psychology, geography and education. It is the first time that such tables have been brought together in a convenient form to provide an accessible reference for the general user, and the selection of tables has been updated to bring them in line with modern needs.
The tables are designed primarily for teaching and research purposes in universities, polytechnics, colleges and schools, but social scientists working outside the field of education will find them equally useful for their professional work. They will be particularly valuable to students and teachers of quantitative methods in classes and tutorials, and are ideally suited for
examination purposes as all essential tables are provided.
The tables are arranged in three sections. Section 1, which constitutes the core of the work, includes the most frequently used statistical tables, grouped for convenience in four subsections: (a) basic probability distributions, (b) tests of significance in regression and correlation analysis, (c) non-parametric tests, and (d) miscellaneous statistical tables. Section 2 contains the basic accounting tables used in financial decision making and investment appraisal. Section 3 contains logarithmic tables. Although it is assumed that users will be familiar with the tables, the book includes diagrams, short explanatory notes and examples to make reference easier.
