Description
The Daily Reading, which can be used as a companion to Daily Prayer (Pelican A 457), is a collection of the finest passages from the Bible, arranged under the days of the week. These passages have been selected for their inspirational and devotional merit and are grouped to illustrate such themes as the Trinity, the way of life, the Church, nature, prayer and forgiveness, sin and redemption, the spread of Christ's kingdom, and the pursuit of worship and service.
In addition to the extracts and short texts taken from the familiar books of the Bible, many have been chosen from the Apocrypha. For in Ecclesiasticus and Wisdom, although they are hardly known to the ordinary reader, is to be found some of the noblest literature of the Old Testament.
