Collected here for the first time, the writings in The Feeling Intellect demonstrate the range and precision of Philip Rieff's sociology of culture. His reflections on religion, politics, and education offer a constructive sociological vision of sacred order from which all social order derives. The organization of this volume re- fleets Rieff's major theoretical interests, beginning with a section of his writings on psychoanalysis.
