Ganesha Society was established in 1970. Its purpose is to promote knowledge and understanding of the cultural heritage of Indonesia. Ganesha Volunteers was formed to assist in the preservation of Museums in Jakarta.
The Explorers group of Ganesha members evolved in 1988 to discover and record the various regions and cultures around Jakarta. The natural result of which is this book, written on their own initiative to make the results of their study available to a wider public.
