Description
The life of St. Paul is one which appeals to all young and old. It is a life full of adventure and love love which softened and purified his fiery and impetuous disposition and changed him into the man who is re ferred to as "the Apostle."Before his conversion to Christianity, Saul was a zealous Pharisee who persecuted the Christians. But while on the road to Damascus where he was to capture many Christians, at midday, a great light suddenly shone around him. Falling to the ground, he heard a voice say to him: "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?" and he answered, "Who are You, Lord?" And He said, "I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you are persecuting." Saul knew Christ; he understood his situation before God and Immediately placed himself in God's service: "What shall I do, Lord?"
And once the Savior had spoken to Saul, there was no turning back for him. With heroic courage he went from country to country in search for souls so that even when he was in chains and in prison, the Word of God was not chained.
Which saint has led such an active life, so full of virtue, piety and zeal for souls? Only St. Paul was able to say: "I have labored more than any of them, yet not I, but the grace of God with me" (1 Cor. 15:10-11).
