The Bermuda Stock Exchange is the world's first truly offshore stock exchange. As an offshore exchange, the BSX has tremendous flexibility since we are not bound by either of the European Union Listing Directives or the US SEC's Regulations, but we do apply international standards and we are properly regulated by the Bermuda Monetary Authority.
Our ultimate goal is to build the infrastructure in Bermuda that supports our domestic market and allows international institutions and high net worth individuals to trade securities offshore, settle those securities offshore, and hold those securities in book-entry form offshore - with the legal title held on an electronic register offshore. In this way, the huge pools of 'offshore capital' that currently exist may be encouraged to be re-invested in a new global, offshore securities market in Bermuda.
