Description

Having amassed a large fortune despite his Lower East Side origins, Harry Bell sets out to enjoy the lascivious pleasures available to the very rich.

EVERYONE assumed the funeral would be held at Frank B. Campbell's.

During his lifetime, Harry had worked too hard to get to the upper East Side for his memorial service to be held anywhere other than Madison Avenue and Eighty-second Street. Although the Riverside Chapel was becoming fairly fashionable for show business funerals, there was no getting away from the fact that it was on the West Side.

Harry's attorney, Ron Abbate, was in Europe. One of the brothers was in Idaho, no one was exactly sure where; as Harry had long ago dismissed him as incompetent, the arrangements could not be entrusted to him.

In the end, the decision fell to Harry's secretary, who was rather at a loss: she had never arranged a funeral before, except for her mother, who hadn't been important.

But what with everybody calling to ask when the services would be held at Campbell's, the problem of where was eliminated.

In addition there was the big holiday weekend coming up, and a lot of Harry's friends voiced concern that they would not be out of the city by Friday noon, and might get caught in heavy traffic.

The funeral was set for 10 AM. Friday.
