Description
The contribution for world peace by Sikhs is indeed a very great one. The total Sikh population is small compared to other races and one is inspired, impressed and fascinated by the achievements made by Sikh soldiers world over. Since their time of recruitment by the British after the fall of Punjab in 1849, Sikh soldiers in British deployments have displayed unparalleled bravery, loyalty and sacrifice. There is no denying that there is hardly a village in the Punjab, which did not lose a son in battle in far away countries like Myanmar, Thailand, Africa, Britain, France, Germany, Russia, Singapore and Malaysia. One only needs to glance at the names of the fallen at the Kranji War Memorial in Singapore to appreciate how many Sikhs left the safety and comforts of their homes in Punjab, and died in British uniforms to defend distant places.THE BOOK
