In 1980, when Anant "Uncle" Pai, a giant in the world of Indian comics, and Subba Rao, noted writer and editor, began a fortnightly magazine for children, little did they know how iconic it would become.
This is the magazine that introduced Kalia the Crow in its very first issue. Soon, other Tinkle Toons joined the roster-Suppandi the simpleton, cowardly Shikari Shambu and devious Tantri the Mantri. In no time at all, they became household names, a legacy that continues to this day for these Toons.
And in the years to come, the Tinkle Toon family only grew.
From the sisters Ina, Mina, Mynah and Mo to the conspiratorial Defective Detectives, "weirdly-powered" heroes the SuperWeirdos to India's youngest crime fighter WingStar, and the curious kids of the boarding school NOIS to the mystically fantastic Yog Yodhas, Tinkle today is peppered with diverse characters and stories.
