Description
This TPM Encyclopedia derives much from the Japanese version "TPM Plant Maintenance Terminology" published in 1996, covering not only TPM related terminologies but other expressions that may be useful as a basic knowledge regarding TPM and its related disciplines such as production management, chemical plant engineering, equipment diagnosis, TQC, reliability and others. It is the result of the two year hard work on the part of responsible editorial staff in their respective areas of specialty. I am glad to report that the work is now being highly valued as a useful tool in implementing and promoting TPM in the shop.
As I mentioned, the English version TPM Encyclopedia is based primarily on the Japanese version TPM Plant Maintenance Terminology. I like to invite your special attention to those TPM terms and/or phrases which were coined in Japan such as "Setsubi Sogo Koritsu" (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), "Jishu-Hozen" (Autonomous Maintenance), "Hinshitsu-Hozen" (Quality Maintenance), among others, since I believe the English translation and accompanying comment for such Japan-originated terms/phrases should prove particularity useful and meaningful.
