This is a collection of 88 articles selected from the 180 contributions that appeared in the column "MIM Speaks" in the Sunday Star over the period. 1993 to 1999.
The articles have been grouped according to four focal issues:
- Management in Action - a question of competence
- Lessons to Learn - reflections and insights
- Raising the Standard - values and the new paradigm
- Managing the Future - a macro perspective
This collection seeks to extend the aim of the column - disseminating management information on best practices and articulating management concerns, issues and problems of Malaysia. Written by Malaysians, the articles range from daily operational concerns of managing meetings to larger issues like crafting a code of ethics for managers. They highlight contemporary management issues and offer guidance for action.
Most of the articles are not time based, but deal with the basics of management along the lines of efficiency, effectiveness, productivity, accountability and transparency.
Voice of Management-the Malaysian Challenge is intended for the managerial workforce and anyone who has a part in managing Malaysia's transition into future growth, development and wellbeing.
