What Color is Your Parachute? 2000: A Practical Manual for Job-Hunters and Career-Changers

If you are extremely unhappy in your present job, or out of work, all that you will care about is that this book be insightful, up to date, and helpful. Six million people have found it so, and I hope that you will too.

But there are others who are very aware of the long history of this book, and they will have noticed that the year 2000 marks the 30th anniversary of What Color Is Your Parachute? I first published -- self- published -- the book in the year 1970.

That it is still a best-seller thirty years later--as I write, it is ranked in the top 100 books sold by Amazon.com -- is one of the most remarked-upon stories in the publishing industry. I know it fills even me with wonder and astonishment.

Of course, the book is updated each year, and every few years I have dramatically rewritten it (last year, for example), so in a sense it isn't the same book that it was 30 years ago. But in another sense it is; readers from 30 years ago who return to read a current version are always surprised at how much the basic structure of the book is still the same today as it was then: What, Where and How.
