Description
Even though all organizations are different, it is useful to study their differences and the ways in which they work. Many prominent management thinkers have made a study of organizations and, in many cases, the impact of their work has been very important. The authors have focused their attention on five aspects of organizations- the Structure of Organizations, the Functioning of Organizations, the Management of Organizations, People in Organizations and the Organization in Society. In each of these divisions they discuss the contributions made by important writers on the subject. Each writer has been allocated to a particular section according to the work that is considered to be his main contribution.
The object of the book is to give an introduction to the views of leading management writers. It was first commissioned by the Administrative Staff College at Henley-on-Thames, and is now published by Penguin Education in a revised and updated form.
