Description
Perhaps it would be appropriate to begin this book with an explanation as to why it was written. It is my overall concern for the future of our nation, free enterprise, and the insurance industry, or in other words, and most particularly, my concern for insurance people and the public they serve that motivated this effort. I love each in my own way, and yet each seems to be, from one perspective or another, in jeopardy. It is impossible to guess the number of words I have spoken from the speaker's platform, trying to favorably influence the destiny of each of these causes. It may be simplistic, but it is my opinion that the people in the life insurance industry can and should have a tremendous impact on the future of the business they represent, on the economic and political system which provides opportunity and security for the American public, and on the nation itself. This leads to some personal frustration, however, because so many people come into our business who could succeed, but fail, some who survive never reach beyond mediocrity, and some who make it to stardom choose not to "put back." This waste of human resources deprives individuals of psychic and material rewards beyond their imagination.
This book will not be on the "how" of the specific subjects most often the basis of books, i.e., selling, technical information, etc., but will try to give an overview of my attitudes, philosophies, and methods in the hope that perhaps some who read it may be able to reach a little higher and stand a little taller, others who might fail will succeed, others may decide to find a new road to follow, and others may become more effective in helping other than themselves achieve their respective objectives.
